Writer’s Guidelines

Articles are written primarily by freelance writers. We enjoy working with different writers exploring all the great ideas and stories for the Territory. Our large format high quality publication, Prineville Territory Magazine, has many different departments in which stories fall into.

“On Point” is a random section in which items don’t specifically fall. “Political Perspective” is a section where we explore the sides of politics in the territory. “Back Country” is where explore the territory through the outdoor enthusiast and includes hunting, fishing, and travel stories. “Indian Chiefs” is where we are exploring different historical stories around the Native Americans of the territory. “Family Ranching” is where we get to highlight families making a living off the land in the territory. “Community Business” is a section where we highlight companies around the territory that are up and coming or have been here for a long time and we want to share their story . “Looking back” is our favorite section. We love the history of the territory and explore it from all sides in this section. Our final section is “Ghost towns”, where we explore what was going on in towns around the territory, some of which are still thriving today.

We assign stories 2 to 4 months in advance and copy deadlines are generally two weeks prior to publication dates.

Payment varies from $0.15/word to $0.25/word. We pay 30 days after publication. Prineville Territory and Iverson Media retain all rights to the content to use wherever it chooses.

Before pitching ideas for stories, please look over the past copies of Prineville Territory. We look for writers with a strong knowledge of the area and enjoy digging stories out.

Photography submissions

Minimum resolution of 300 dpi on all photos submitted please. Images and logos from websites may not be usable for print, as they are low resolution and will print blurry.
